It is this time of the year, where we sit back and set the goals for the new year ahead. Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality.
Why Goal Setting?
The Bible says in Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish.
The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You'll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.
Four Important Steps for Goal Setting:
1). Set realistic goals:
It's important to set goals that you can achieve. Set precise goals, putting in dates, times, and amounts so that you can measure achievement. If you do this, you'll know exactly when you have achieved the goal and can take complete satisfaction from having achieved it.
2). Keep your goals visible:
Where focus goes, energy flows, so it’s critical to focus on your goals. Write them down in detail and stick it to your desk, mirror, or wherever it is VISIBLE, this will only help you and motivate you to attain the goals you have set for yourself.
3). Make an Action Plan:
Planning is very important in executing the goals. So take time to frame the steps, the roadmap, and the measures you want to take to see your goals fulfilled. Remember, if you fail to plan, you failed already.
4). Taking God's help:
Yes, you heard it right. We all need God to back our dreams and fulfill our goals. We need His wisdom, His favor, and His strength to attain each and every goal.
