Topic: Overcoming the Flesh
Time and again, God asks us to OVERCOME the flesh to remain in Him and live like JESUS here on Earth.
Romans 8:8 says,
Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 8:13 says,
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Now the point is, How to OVERCOME the Flesh ???
1). Put on JESUS (Remain in JESUS, in other words).
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires (Romans 13:14)
2). Be LED by the SPIRIT of GOD each day.
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh (Gal 5:16)
3). Pursue God and His Kingdom.
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart (2 Tim 2:22)
When we sincerely DESIRE to OVERCOME, God HIMSELF will come to our rescue. He will keep us blameless for HIMSELF and give us a WAY OUT to escape SIN.
I love this verse in 1 Thess 5:23
Now may the God of peace HIMSELF SANCTIFY you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept BLAMELESS at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Remember, There is ALWAYS a REWARD for the OVERCOMERS.
